Our Commitment

Ace Martial Arts is committed to promoting equality of opportunity and eliminating discrimination in all its forms. We believe martial arts is for everyone, regardless of background, and we strive to create an inclusive environment where all members can train, develop and thrive.

This policy is developed in accordance with the Employment Equality Acts 1998-2015 and the Equal Status Acts 2000-2018.

Protected Grounds

Ace Martial Arts is committed to ensuring no person is treated less favourably on any of the following grounds:

  • Gender
  • Civil status
  • Family status
  • Sexual orientation

  • Age

  • Race, including race, colour, nationality, ethnic origin or national origin
  • Membership of the Traveller Community

Scope

This policy applies to all members, visitors, staff, coaches, volunteers and anyone using the facilities or services. It covers all aspects of operations including:

  • Membership and access to facilities
  • Class participation and grading
  • Competition selection and representation
  • Employment and volunteer opportunities
  • Communications and marketing

Our Principles

  • Create a welcoming and inclusive training environment for all.
  • Ensure equal access to training, coaching and competition opportunities.
  • Treat all individuals with dignity and respect.
  • Challenge discriminatory behaviour and language.
  • Make reasonable accommodations for members with disabilities.
  • Promote diversity within the coaching team and leadership.
  • Review practices regularly to identify and remove barriers.

Reasonable Accommodations

Ace Martial Arts is committed to making reasonable accommodations to enable people with disabilities to participate in its activities.

Harassment and Discrimination

Harassment and discrimination of any kind are not tolerated at Ace Martial Arts. This includes:

  • Direct discrimination, meaning treating someone less favourably
  • Indirect discrimination, meaning applying rules that disadvantage particular groups
  • Harassment, meaning unwanted conduct that violates dignity
  • Sexual harassment
  • Victimisation, meaning treating someone badly for making a complaint

Complaints Procedure

  • Report the incident to any staff member or coach as soon as possible.
  • Submit a written complaint to info.acemartialarts@gmail.com.
  • All complaints are investigated promptly and confidentially.
  • Appropriate action may include warnings, suspension or termination of membership.

Responsibilities

All members and visitors are expected to:

  • Treat everyone with respect and dignity.
  • Not engage in discriminatory or harassing behaviour.
  • Report concerns or incidents in a timely manner.
  • Support an inclusive training environment.
  • Coaches and staff are additionally expected to lead by example, challenge inappropriate behaviour, ensure equal treatment in coaching activities, and participate in equality and diversity training.

This policy is reviewed annually to ensure it remains effective and compliant with current legislation. Feedback from members and the community is welcome.
